Marianne Faithfull

Most of us often get told to accept our shortcomings and turn them into advantages. Well, perhaps the same can be said for singer-songwriter Marianne Faithfull. After beginning her career performing songs in coffeehouses, Faithfull got the chance to release her first single, As Tears Go By, which instantly succeeded. Although she became more famous thanks to her follow-up albums Marianne Faithfull and Come My Way, the singer reached a challenging point in her life.

A few years after, she fortunately recovered from the hardships, but it left drastic changes with her voice, notably making it raspier and lower. Even so, Faithfull undoubtedly deserves credit for not letting it stop her music career. With that said, she eventually made a comeback with her album, Broken English. Nowadays, whenever she isn’t on stage or recording a new track, it’s safe to say that Faithfull is busy writing a new song in her apartment in Paris.
