Shawne Merriman

Shawne Merriman started his career as an athlete during his high-school days, where he spent the first three years as a varsity player for both the football and basketball teams. At that time, he also earned the nickname “Lights Out” for rendering four opposing players unconscious during one football game. He later got drafted into the NFL’s San Diego Chargers team and eventually won himself the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year honor. After a couple more seasons, he was transferred to the Buffalo Bills, where he played for the rest of his career until retiring in 2012.

Through the years, Shawne has spent some investment money on more than a few ventures, including a clothing line and TV broadcasting. The most notable one, however, is his most recent work as a mixed martial arts fight promoter and league owner of Lights Out Xtreme Fighting. Since its inception, the former football player hopes to help fellow former athletes land a new start in the MMA scene.
