Robert De Niro

Robert De Niro is one of the most iconic actors in the Hollywood film industry, starring in films like 1973’s Bang the Drum Slowly, 1974’s The Godfather Part II, 1976’s Taxi Driver —  and more recently in 2019’s Joker and The Irishman. De Niro and his partner, Jane Rosenthal, co-founded TriBeCa Productions and are also the ones who organize the TriBeCa Film Festival events.

Outside of the film industry, earlier in his career, De Niro grew a liking to the food that Chef Nobu Matsuhisa makes in his restaurant. Eventually, the two became partners and, later on, made investments together to expand the business. Along with film producer Meir Teper, De Niro and Matsuhisa own 39 restaurants and eight hotels across five continents under the Nobu brand. The Nobu empire is reported to generate hundreds of millions of dollars per year.
