Originally born as Reginald Kenneth Dwight, Sir Elton Hercules John is a world-renowned English pianist, composer, singer, and songwriter. Elton John has sold more than 300 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling music artists of all time. He has nine number ones in the US and seven in the UK and has over fifty Top 40 hits in the US Billboard Hot 100 and UK Singles Chart. John released his debut albums, Elton John and Empty Sky in 1970 and 1969, respectively.

He also founded his record label, The Rocket Record Company, back in 1973, which was responsible for releasing Neil Sedaka’s albums. Despite having his own recording company, he signed a deal worth $8 million with MCA, which is $40 million at today’s rate.
