Robert Redford & Lola Van Wagenen

Before Robert Redford became famous in Hollywood, he was a college dropout looking to make it big. He needed to find solace and found it in a college girl named Lola Van Wagenen. Both Redford and Van Wagenen met in Los Angeles in 1957. They said their I Do’s a year later in a secret wedding in Provo, Utah, and went on to have four children. After they married, Robert attended Pratt Institute in New York and pursued a degree in acting. The Redford couple would also invest their time directing films, like Ordinary People, which won him four Academy Awards. Meanwhile, Lola produced films related to environmentalism and American history, such as Miss America.

However, the couple would go their separate ways in 1985, citing difficulties in work and family life balance. As for their kids, Shauna is a painter who keeps her life private as she has no personal online accounts. James would follow in the footsteps of his mother as an environmentalist and documentarian. Amy is an actor, director, and producer and directed 2008’s The Guitar.
