Sam Shepard & Jessica Lange

Actors Jessica Lange and Sam Shepard’s love story can be traced back all the way to 1982 while they were shooting the film Frances. A year after they first met, they moved in together and went to spend twenty-seven years as a couple. Shepard and Lange welcomed their first child in 1986, a daughter whom they named Hannah Jane. Their second child, this a time a son named Samuel Walker, was born the following year.

Their almost three-decade-long relationship was not without challenges and turmoil. The couple went their separate ways in 2009 but only announced it two years later in 2011. The couple also had to divide some of their shared investments upon going their different ways. Although they were never married, a letter that Shepard wrote to a friend revealed that he once asked Lange’s hand in marriage while on the film Country’s set back in December of 1983.
