While many knew the relationship between Sir Paul McCartney and Heather Mills because of how it ended, their wedding ceremony in 2002 was certainly followed by everyone. The Beatles star first met Mills back in 1999, which, at the time, had already caused a lot of controversies. Regardless, the couple soldiered on and tied the knot in an over-the-top ceremony at a castle in Glaslough, Ireland. The whole ceremony was a massive investment by the two of them.

On their big day, Mills wore an off-white dress, which she designed herself, and paired her bridal look with eleven pink McCartney Roses—a hybrid flower. The wedding reception featured an entirely vegetarian menu, and it was reported that the entire ceremony cost around $3.2 million. Despite the intimacy of the occasion, helicopters swirled overhead, trying to take a glimpse of the couple’s big day howsoever.
