The Duke of Huescar & Sofia Palazuelo

Perhaps one of the most well-known recent weddings in Spain, the wedding between Fernando Fitz-James Stuart, Duke of Huescar and Sofia Palazuelo was certainly a grandiose one. They made the tying of the knot in Liria Palace in Madrid, which is the family estate of the Duke of Huescar. Before that, they had a long luncheon on the lawn on the palace grounds, where wine and beer sourced from the family’s own brewery and winery located nearby were served.

Around 750 guests of some of Spain’s and Europe’s elites were in attendance, ranging from royalty to fashion designers to investment moguls. The most notable ones were Queen Sophia of Spain, King Simeon of Bulgaria, and Princess Anne, Duchess of Calabria. After the ceremony, the couple had their first dance, which was a waltz done in front of their guests. The celebrations went on after midnight, even as a midnight curfew was in place.
