Before she became ultra-rich, the Harry Potter creator was a researcher who was used to a rather simple life. When the fantasy series was born, and she eventually became successful, the author eventually got used to living lavishly.  She spent part of her net worth on a luxury yacht that was  once owned by Johnny Depp —  she dropped around $31 million for it. She also spends money employing two secretaries, a bodyguard, and a personal assistant.

Because she is now rich, she was able to afford her neighbors’ house for around $1.6 million. She had it demolished and expanded her garden. True to the Harry Potter spirit, she now owns a castle-like house which she bought for $700,000. She also has properties in Kensington, Edinburgh, and in Tasmania. We can just imagine the amount she would’ve needed to pay had she gotten it through a mortgage.
